Gather 'round children, cuz I'm gonna tell you last month's tale: My one year old Cintiq Pro, started to display dead pixels 😨
Luckily for me, Amazon has a generous refund policy.
Even though I really liked the experience of drawing directly on the screen, I just didn't feel like buying another Cintiq; they are expensive and the Pro line seems to be faulty, according to many people's reviews, like my friend @milosflaca's nightmarish Cintiq experience.
So I was comparing options and prices when suddenly, I saw her:
I've been interested in the iPad Pro for some time, but I wasn't sure about getting one because it is an iOs tablet (I'm a Windows user) and I wanted a screen that could work with my usual programs (Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Clip Studio). After seeing several professional artists working on the iPad, I started considering it as a serious option, but the price was a deterrent (1000 USD vs a 500 USD Huion). When I found it on sale, I took a leap of faith and... it has surpassed my expectations. I've fulfilled my lifelong dream of drawing on bed 😍 Good riddance, back and leg pain from sitting too long! YAY!
I drew these vignettes in Procreate, a wonderful app specially created for the iPad. Its UI is so intuitive, the gestures make good use of the tactile nature of the tablet, that I don't miss drawing on my old programs. If I need to use Photoshop, I can export Procreate's files to PSD. I'm still learning to use it, but I'm in love!
If you are looking for a tablet for making illustration, don't take my word for it, but from the person who has reviewed ALL THE TABLETS: Mr. @frenden's enthusiastic iPad Pro review :)
